SOUTH WOODSTOCK — They came from Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and as far away as California to talk water buffalo.

The American Water Buffalo Association held its annual meeting this weekend at Star Hill Dairy, the first and only water buffalo creamery in the country.

The dairy started milking the unusual breed in 2003 and making the famous buffalo mozzarella cheese shortly afterward. It also makes a brand of yogurt under the brand name Woodstock Water Buffalo, featuring many Vermont-inspired flavors such as maple, honey or black currant.
